Hello Roadrunner Families!
I am so excited and grateful to serve as the new principal of Audubon TK-8 School. Education has always been my passion, and I feel blessed to now be part of such a welcoming and dedicated school community.
I began my career as a 6th grade teacher in southern Missouri and later moved to St. Louis, where I taught 8th grade English and Language Arts. I then stepped into school leadership, serving as an assistant principal for six years and as a principal for three years at the elementary level. Along the way, I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in teaching and school administration from Southeast Missouri State University, and my Doctorate in School Administration and Supervision from Maryville University.
Last year, I made the move to San Diego to be closer to family, and I couldn’t be happier to call this area home. What excites me most about Audubon is the opportunity to work with such incredible students, staff, and families as we continue to grow and learn together.
Some of my passions in education include helping students who may struggle with reading and math, making sure every child feels included and valued, and partnering with our multilingual families so they feel supported and connected to our school.
I can’t wait to get to know each of you and cheer on our Roadrunners as we make this school year a wonderful one!
Your partner in education,
Craig Thurman, Ed.D.
